Weekly Meal Plan 12/7 - 12/13

Sunday night already!? Why do weekends just seem to fly by way too fast?

We had a fun weekend, but I wanted to share a photo of Kellen from this past week decorating cookies at my work. One of my co-workers helped organize a massive cooking decorating event and 10,000 cookies were decorated. The cookies are going to local nursing homes and homeless shelters. I brought Kellen after swim and he really enjoyed decorating/eating the cookies.  It was a good  experience for him because he wanted to bring a little bag home and I explained where the cookies were going and we weren't able to bring any home. It is very hard to explain poverty, health and old age to a toddler, but when I told him that there are families and people that do not have a home like ours during the holiday he no longer wanted to bring home to cookies, and in a sweet voice told me, "that makes Kellen feel sad". The experience was a lot of fun for him, but I believe that it is important for him to learn at an early age that we are lucky and we need to give back and help other people.

On Friday night we stayed in and relaxed because Saturday was busy! On Saturday, we made cookies with Ron's family and had a leave a little early get ready for Ron's work party.  Ron's holiday party was lots of fun and it was really fun to meet his co-workers.

On Sunday, St. Nick paid a visit to our house and Kellen received new boots, a few books and a brand new flashlight.  I headed to Door County shortly after for a friend's baby shower and it was so fun. I went with another good friend. When we were in college we all lived together and it was s much fun. The theme was storybooks and the had the most adorable fondant books as cupcake toppers! I got home while Kellen was napping and I got a few things done around the house before settling in for dinner and bedtime for the little guy. We are in the middle of potty training and we are really excited that our little guy has had two dry days! I really hope that he keeps this up! He is really proud of himself and we hope that this sticks. A few months ago he was doing really well and once there was a lot of talk about the baby he regressed a bit, but now seems to show interest again- yay!
